Everything FreeCharting can do
Professional charting in your browser: seconds-to-yearly timeframes, 17 chart types, 51 indicators, drawing tools, your own scripts and backtests, alerts, replay, paper trading and live order books. No account and no paid tier.
Charts
The core chart, built to feel like a professional trading terminal.
Any timeframe, down to 1 second
20 ready-made timeframes, from 1-, 5-, 15- and 30-second candles through minutes and hours to daily, 3-day, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly, plus any other you want: 4 minutes, 7 hours, 10 days, 2 weeks or 6 months. Type it on the chart (4m, 7h, 2d) or add it in the timeframe menu. Timeframes a provider doesn’t offer directly are built from smaller candles. Pin your favourites to the toolbar with ★.
17 chart types
Candles, OHLC bars, line, area, step line, line with markers, baseline (above and below a base level in two colours), HLC area, columns, high-low bars, hollow candles, hollow up candles and Heikin Ashi, plus Renko, line break, Point & Figure (X and O columns) and Kagi (thick and thin lines), which are built from price moves rather than time. Chart type settings let you set Renko’s, Point & Figure’s and Kagi’s box or reversal size (ATR length, a fixed amount or a percentage), reversal boxes and source (closes or wicks), the number of line-break lines, whether Heikin Ashi shows the real price on the price scale, the baseline level, and the colour and width of line, area and step charts.
Linear, log and percent scales
A log scale shows long-term moves in proportion; the percent scale shows every candle as a change from the first one on screen. Invert the scale (Alt+I) to view a chart upside down.
Go to date and keyboard navigation
Jump to any date with Alt+G (older history loads automatically). Scroll with the arrow keys, zoom with + and −, and press Home to return to the latest candle.
Up to 16 charts at once
Split the screen into 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 12 or 16 charts, each with its own symbol, timeframe and indicators. Turn on Link symbol to change them all together, Sync timeframe to switch them together, and Sync scroll and zoom so every chart shows the same stretch of time, even on different timeframes. In small charts the price legend appears when you hover.
Synced crosshair
Hover one chart and the others show the same moment in time, and the same price when they show the same symbol.
Saved layouts
Save the whole workspace (every chart, indicator and setting) under a name and switch between layouts in one click.
Workspace tabs
Keep several workspaces open as tabs above the charts, say one for crypto and one for stocks, each with its own layout and charts. Double-click a tab to rename it.
Share a chart or layout as a link
Copy a link to your layout (charts, timeframes, indicators, drawings and sync options) from Share chart in the ⋯ menu, and anyone who opens it gets the same setup in a new workspace tab. Their own drawings on those symbols are left alone. The layout travels inside the link itself, so it never touches a server.
Compare symbols
Overlay up to three other symbols, rebased to the main chart, to compare performance.
Spread and ratio charts
Chart two symbols combined, such as ETHUSDT ÷ BTCUSDT or AAPL − MSFT, with live updates, indicators and drawings. Type it with spaces (ETHUSDT / BTCUSDT) or use Spread or ratio chart in the menu.
Type a timeframe
Type 15, 4h, 1d, 3M, 1y or 30s anywhere on the chart and press Enter to switch. Pinned timeframes sit in the toolbar, and spare space fills with more.
Watchlist at hand
On larger screens the chart opens with your watchlist beside it.
Trade and act from the chart
Right-click the chart, or tap the + that follows the crosshair at the chart’s right edge, to act on that exact price: get a buy or sell order ready there (limit or stop, paper or your broker), set your position’s take profit or stop loss there, add an alert, draw a horizontal line, start bar replay from that candle or copy the price. Drag an order’s line to move it, or drag your position line up or down to set a take profit or stop loss where you let go. Right-click an indicator pane for its settings, hide or remove.
Chart settings
Candle colours (including a colour-blind friendly blue/orange preset), grid lines, last-price line, high/low marks, session break lines (new day, week, month or year) and the timezone for intraday candles.
Light and dark themes
Follows your device’s setting until you pick one with the toggle.
Share, save and export
The address bar always links to the symbol and timeframe you’re viewing, and Share chart copies a link that includes your drawings. Save a PNG snapshot or copy the chart image to the clipboard, or export the candles as CSV.
Cat companion
Click the cat at the bottom of the left toolbar and Neko, the classic desktop cat, roams your charts. It chases your pointer, sits down when it catches up, then washes, scratches, yawns and falls asleep until you move again, and claws at the edge when the pointer leaves the chart. Pet it, drag it anywhere, and it cheers when a trade fills. Neko artwork by Masayuki Koba and David Harvey.
Indicators
51 built-in technical indicators, with no limit on how many you use at once.
Quick controls on the chart
Each indicator’s label on the chart has buttons to hide it, open its settings or remove it, so you don’t have to open the Indicators window.
Moving averages from another timeframe
Plot, say, the daily 20 and 50 EMA on an hourly chart. Choose the timeframe and EMA or simple MA; it uses completed higher-timeframe candles, so it doesn’t repaint.
Volume profile
See how much volume traded at each price across the bars on screen, split into buying and selling, with the point of control and value area marked. It redraws as you scroll and zoom.
Candlestick patterns
Engulfing, hammer, shooting star, morning and evening star, three soldiers and crows, piercing line, dark cloud cover and doji, marked on the chart. Hover a candle to see its pattern.
Trend and moving averages
MA, EMA, WMA, Hull MA, VWAP, Ichimoku Cloud (with the projected cloud), Supertrend, Chandelier Exit (an ATR trailing stop with buy and sell flips), Parabolic SAR, BBI, pivot points and average price.
Previous high and low
Marks the previous bar’s high and low just right of the latest candle, or the previous hour, 4 hours, day, week or month (PDH/PDL, PWH/PWL), fetched from that timeframe so it works on any chart.
Qullamaggie setups
The Qullamaggie screener’s rules as a chart indicator: breakout, episodic pivot, parabolic and first-crack markers on any daily chart, the current base’s pivot line, and a card with today’s setup, ADR and recent returns.
Markov regime
Shades the chart bull, bear or sideways from each bar’s recent return and shows the 3×3 transition matrix: how likely each regime is to continue or switch, measured on the chart’s own history, plus the long-run mix. Regime changes are labelled on the chart.
Volatility and channels
Bollinger Bands, Keltner Channels, Donchian Channels, ATR, Bollinger BandWidth, a Squeeze indicator that flags volatility compression and the expansion that follows, and Volatility Candles that turn green, red or grey as volatility expands, contracts or holds.
Momentum and oscillators
RSI, MACD, Stochastic RSI, KDJ (stochastic), CCI, Williams %R, Awesome Oscillator, ROC, momentum, TRIX, DMI/ADX, BIAS, PSY and DMA, plus Momentum Candles that colour each candle green, red or grey by momentum (Elder’s Impulse System, MACD histogram or RSI).
Volume
Volume with its moving average, OBV, MFI, PVT, VR, EMV, BRAR and CR.
Adjustable settings
Change periods and other inputs for each indicator. Your settings become the default for new charts.
Indicator templates
Apply a ready-made set (Trend, Momentum, Volatility, Ichimoku, Day trading, Volume profile) in one click, or save your own, scripts included.
Trading sessions
Boxes for the Tokyo, London and New York sessions on intraday charts, following each city’s local hours and daylight saving.
Price action toolkit
One indicator marks market structure the way price-action traders read it: breaks of structure and changes of character, order blocks, fair value gaps, liquidity sweeps and the premium and discount halves of the current range. Swing length and how many order blocks to show are adjustable.
Drawing tools
81 tools in eight groups on the left-hand toolbar (the corner arrow on each opens the rest). Drawings are saved for each symbol in your browser.
Lines and levels
Trend line, ray, info line (price change, bars and angle), extended line, horizontal line and ray, vertical line, cross line, price line, trend angle (shows the slope in degrees) and arrow.
Channels and pitchforks
Parallel channel, price channel, linear regression channel (±2 standard deviations, with the % change), flat top/bottom and disjoint channels, and Andrews’, Schiff and modified Schiff pitchforks plus a pitchfan.
Chart patterns
XABCD and cypher harmonic patterns, ABCD, three drives, head and shoulders and triangle patterns, with their Fibonacci ratios labelled. Elliott impulse, correction and triangle waves, and double and triple combinations.
Shapes and marks
Rectangle, rotated rectangle, ellipse, circle, triangle, arc, curve and S-curve, a freehand brush and a see-through highlighter, arrow marks pointing up, down, left or right, flags and emoji.
Fibonacci and Gann
Fibonacci retracement, a three-point Fibonacci extension (0.618 to 2.618), Fibonacci channel, fan, time zones and trend-based time, speed resistance arcs, circles, spiral and wedge. Gann box, Gann square and Gann fan (1×8 to 8×1).
Trade planning
The long/short position tool shows entry, target and stop with percentages and risk-to-reward, and (once you set your account size and risk % in Chart settings) the position size that risks exactly that amount. The measure tool shows the price change, percentage, bars and time between two points, and the price range and date range tools measure one at a time (the date range adds up the volume). Fixed range volume profile shows how much traded at each price between two candles, with the point of control and value area. Anchored VWAP draws the volume-weighted average price, with ±1 standard deviation bands, from any candle you pick.
Notes
Text notes, callouts, comments, signposts, price notes and price labels, annotations and price tags. Double-click a note, or select it and click Edit text, to change what it says.
Forecasting and cycles
The forecast tool draws a target from any candle and, once the chart gets there, shows whether it was reached in time. Ghost feed sketches made-up candles along a path you click; bar pattern copies a stretch of real candles to wherever you want to project it. Cyclic lines, time cycles, sine waves and a sector tool mark repeating timing.
Alerts on drawings
Select a drawing and click Alert (or right-click it) to set an alert: trend lines, rays and extended lines alert when price crosses them (extended to the right); rectangles when price enters or leaves the zone; parallel channels on a breakout; Fibonacci retracements when price crosses a level; horizontal lines, cross lines and price lines at their price.
Chart objects
The layers button lists every drawing and indicator on the chart, so you can hide, show, lock or delete them one by one or all at once, jump to any drawing, and search when the list gets long.
Style, lock and delete
Select a drawing to get a small toolbar (or right-click it) to change its colour, line width and style, lock it in place, or delete it, and choose “Use this style for new drawings” to make it that tool’s default. The magnet button has three settings: off, weak (snaps when you’re close to a candle’s open, high, low or close) and strong (always snaps).
Draw by holding
Press and hold still on the chart for half a second, then sketch. A straight stroke becomes a trend line (or a horizontal or vertical line), a box becomes a rectangle and a loop becomes an ellipse. Turn it off in Chart settings.
Undo, redo and shortcuts
The undo and redo buttons in the left toolbar (or ⌘/Ctrl+Z) undo the last change, whether a drawing or the chart setup (indicators, chart type, timeframe, symbol, layout), and ⌘/Ctrl+Shift+Z redoes it. Delete removes the selected drawing. Alt/Option plus a letter picks a tool: T trend line, H horizontal line, F Fibonacci, R rectangle, P position, M measure.
Your own keyboard shortcuts
Give any drawing tool or chart action its own shortcut: indicators, alerts, replay, chart objects, go to date, next or previous timeframe, copy the chart image, the sidebar, full screen and more. Press ? on the chart, click a shortcut and press the new keys.
In your language
The chart app speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Hindi: menus, dialogs, the trade ticket, messages and the price legend on the chart. It follows your browser’s language automatically, or pick one from the ⋯ menu or Chart settings. So does the rest of the site, from the guides and free tools to every symbol page, and it opens in your device’s language automatically.
Custom scripts
Write your own indicators and strategies in JavaScript, with helpers modelled on Pine Script.
Familiar helpers
Use ta.sma, ta.rsi, ta.macd, ta.crossover, ta.supertrend and 30 more, plus input(), plot(), hline(), plotshape() and bgcolor().
Settings for your scripts
Declare inputs with input.int, input.float, input.bool and input.source, then change them from the indicator panel without touching the code.
Other timeframes
request.security('1D', (d) => ta.sma(d.close, 50)) works out a value on daily candles and lines it up with the chart you’re on, without looking ahead.
Safe by design
Scripts run in an isolated sandbox with a time limit. They only see price data and can’t reach your API keys, the page or the network.
Alerts from your scripts
alertcondition(cond, 'message') alerts you with a sound, a message and a browser notification when your condition turns true on a live candle.
Editor and sharing
A code editor with line numbers, error messages that point to the line, built-in examples, and share links that let someone else import your script.
Strategy backtesting
Test a trading strategy on past data and see how it would have traded.
Strategy tester
Click Backtest in the chart toolbar and pick a ready-made strategy: moving average crossover, RSI mean reversion, Bollinger breakout, MACD long/short, Supertrend, the Donchian “turtle” breakout, or volatility × momentum candles (buy bright green, choose whether to exit on grey, faded red or bright red). The report opens straight away, and every setting (lengths, stop loss, take profit) can be changed afterwards.
Simple strategy commands
strategy.entry(), strategy.close() and strategy.close_all(), with starting capital, position size, commission, stop-loss and take-profit.
Realistic fills
Orders fill at the next candle’s open. Stops and targets are checked inside each candle, and the stop is assumed to hit first when both could.
Strategy report
Net profit, buy-and-hold comparison, win rate, profit factor, maximum drawdown, average and best/worst trade, and time in trade.
Equity curve and trade list
See the equity curve against buy-and-hold, click any trade to jump to it on the chart, and export all trades as CSV. Entries and exits are marked on the chart.
Practice and market depth
Tools in the right-hand sidebar, next to your watchlist.
Paper trading
A practice account kept in your browser. Place market, limit and stop orders with an optional take profit and stop loss, fixed or trailing (one cancels the other, with the reward-to-risk ratio shown as you type), go long or short, and track equity, open P/L, fees and history. Positions and orders appear as lines on the chart. Move a take profit, stop loss or pending order afterwards, or add them to an open position, with TP/SL and ✎ in the Trade tab or by dragging its line. Pending orders fill against live prices while FreeCharting is open in a tab. Split the exit with a second take profit (part closes at the first, the rest at the second, with the stop moved to break-even if you like), and move the stop to your entry with B/E once the trade is in profit. (Real orders placed with a connected broker are held by the broker and work with FreeCharting closed.)
Order book and depth chart
Live bids and asks for crypto pairs on Binance, Coinbase, OKX, Kraken, Hyperliquid and Deribit, with price grouping, a depth chart and the balance between buyers and sellers. Click a price to place a paper limit order there.
Liquidity heatmap
Paint the order book onto the chart: resting orders show as a heatmap behind the candles, brighter where more size is waiting, so you can see walls of bids and asks appear, move and get pulled. It builds up while the chart is open, because exchanges don’t publish past order books.
Time and sales
A live tape of the latest trades, green where buyers took the offer and red where sellers hit the bid, with the largest trades in bold and the buy/sell split on top.
Market stats, funding and open interest
The 24-hour high, low, change, volume, average price and trade count, plus the funding rate (and what it adds up to over a year), time to the next funding, open interest and the premium of the perpetual future over spot, for any coin with a perpetual contract on OKX.
Data window
The Data tab in the sidebar lists the open, high, low, close, change, range and volume of the candle under your cursor (or the latest one), plus every indicator’s values.
Watchlist
Keep a list of symbols with last price and daily change, refreshed every 15 seconds for crypto. Click one to load it, or bring your list over from TradingView with Import (its watchlist menu has Export list…).
Bar replay
Hide the future and replay history candle by candle, at up to 10× speed, and step back a bar with ← to look again. Buy, sell and go flat during the replay with a separate practice balance, and see your P/L and win rate as the bars play out, without touching your paper account.
Trade with your broker
Connect your own broker or exchange in the Trade tab and place real orders without leaving the chart.
12 brokers and exchanges
Alpaca (US stocks, ETFs and crypto), Tradier and Tastytrade (US stocks and ETFs), OANDA (forex, metals and CFDs), IG and Capital.com (CFDs and spread bets), OKX, Gemini and HTX (crypto), Deribit and Hyperliquid (crypto futures and perpetuals), and DXtrade (CFDs, including prop firms such as Lark Funding). Compare what each one supports.
Orders from the chart
Market, limit and stop orders from the order ticket in the Trade tab, with the symbol filled in from the chart you’re on. Size by a share of your buying power, or in lots on DXtrade, and see the risk and reward before you send.
Take profit and stop loss
Attach a take profit and stop loss to the order with Alpaca (stocks), OANDA, IG, Capital.com, OKX, Deribit, Hyperliquid and DXtrade. With the others, place them as separate orders after the entry fills.
Move a stop loss or take profit
Change a working order’s price, including a take profit or stop loss, with ✎ in the Trade tab or by dragging its line on the chart. With OANDA, IG and Capital.com, TP/SL on a position sets, moves or removes both at once. Works with every broker except DXtrade, Gemini and HTX, whose servers don’t accept changes from other websites; real accounts confirm each change.
Size by risk and break-even
With a stop loss entered, Size for 1% risk fills in the quantity that loses a set share of your account at the stop (the share and account size are in Chart settings › Trading), and TP at 2R puts the take profit twice as far away. B/E on a position moves its stop loss to the entry once the trade is in profit. Works with paper trading and most brokers; sizing is left out for IG, Deribit and DXtrade, whose sizes aren’t in units.
Trailing stops
A stop loss that follows the price as it moves your way, keeping its distance, and never moves back. Tick Trailing under the stop loss with OANDA, or in TP/SL on an OANDA or IG position; Alpaca has Trailing as an order type. FreeCharting’s paper trading has it too.
Positions and open orders
Your balance, equity and buying power, open positions with live profit and loss, and working orders, refreshed every few seconds. Close a position or cancel an order with one click.
Practice accounts
Every broker except HTX and DXtrade has a practice account you can connect, so you can try everything without real money. FreeCharting’s own paper trading account needs no broker at all.
Prop firm accounts
Trade an evaluation or funded account at a prop firm that uses DXtrade, such as Lark Funding, with sizes in lots and the firm’s prices on your charts.
Your keys stay yours
Keys and logins are encrypted with a passphrase you choose, kept only in this browser and sent straight to your broker. FreeCharting has no server that could see them. Real accounts lock after 30 minutes without activity, and every real order asks for confirmation.
Charts from your account
A connected Alpaca, Tradier (live), OANDA, Capital.com or DXtrade account also supplies its chart data, so you don’t enter the same keys twice.
Not supported yet
Options and automatic trading. Alerts, scripts and backtests never place real orders.
Alerts
Know when price reaches your level.
Price alerts
Set as many alerts as you like. When price crosses one you get a sound, an on-screen message and, if you allow it, a browser notification.
Indicator alerts
No script needed: get alerted when RSI crosses a level, price crosses a moving average or EMA, or MACD crosses its signal line, on the chart’s timeframe.
Background checks
Alerts on open charts react instantly. Crypto alerts on other symbols are checked every 30 seconds while FreeCharting is open.
On the chart
Each alert shows as a dashed line on its chart, so you can see where your levels are.
Candle countdown
For crypto, the status bar counts down to the close of the current candle on any timeframe.
Economic events
Intraday charts mark rate decisions and big data releases (Fed, ECB, CPI, jobs report and more) with a dashed line, and the status bar counts down to the next one that affects your symbol. See them all in the economic calendar.
Market hours and clock
The status bar shows whether the market is open, with a countdown: “US market open · closes in 3h 12m”, pre-market and after hours for US stocks (holidays included), opening hours for London, Xetra, Tokyo and other exchanges, and the Sydney, Tokyo, London and New York sessions for forex and crypto. A clock shows the chart’s time zone.

Keys stay in your browser
API keys are saved only on your device and sent only to the provider they belong to. FreeCharting has no server that sees them.
No account, no ads
Layouts, drawings, scripts, alerts and your paper account are saved in your browser. The site uses Google Analytics to count visits (visitors in Europe are asked first); your keys and chart data are never sent.
Backup and restore

Questions
Is every feature really free?
Yes. There’s no paid tier: multi-chart layouts, all 51 indicators, scripts, backtesting, alerts, replay, paper trading and the screener are all free. Stock and forex data comes from providers with free plans, using your own key.
Do I need an account?
No. Everything is saved in your browser. If you clear your browser data or switch devices, your layouts, drawings and scripts don’t come with you.
Can I trade with real money?
Yes, if you connect your own Alpaca, Tradier, OKX, OANDA, Tastytrade, IG, Capital.com, Gemini, Deribit, HTX, Hyperliquid or DXtrade account (such as a Lark Funding prop account) in the Trade tab. Orders go straight from your browser to the broker, and every real order asks for confirmation. FreeCharting never holds your money and never sees your keys or orders. Paper trading uses practice money only. See the supported brokers.
